LED’s are considered GREEN for many reasons.  The LED contains no mercury, unlike its counterpart the High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps.  Also, LED lights are compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances.  They are designed to deliver more than ten years of service that is maintenance free, which means less waste since you do not have to replace the bulb.

If we replace the HID lamp every two years, it will cause a harmful ripple effect on our environment.  Since they contain mercury, you have to be worried about the proper disposal of the HID lamp.  If LED’s are being used, imagine the powerful and positive effects that using their technology can have on our pocketbook, our environment, and our planet!

LEDs are more efficient and energy saving than most other light sources, so they usually consume less energy for a given task or at a specific light output. Also, they do not contain hazardous materials. Moreover, LEDs have a extended lifetime and therefore cut back the frequency of disposal of lamps

Why Are LEDs Considered Green Technology?

Energy Efficient

It is 80% more efficient than traditional lighting such as fluorescent and incandescent lights. Out 100% of energy, only 5 % is wasted as heat.

It  is compared to fluorescent lights which convert 95% of energy to heat and only 5% into light! LED lights also uses less power  than traditional lighting.

Life Span

A longer life span means lower carbon emissions. LED Lights last up to five times longer than other types of lights, reducing the requirement for frequent replacements. Hence fewer resources are needed for manufacturing processes, packaging materials, and transportation
