LEDs have an average lifespan of 50,000hrs. If used for 11 hours a day, LED Lighting will last more than 11.5 years. This means LED Lighting definitely cost-effective and investment for a longer period of time. Compared to other traditional lights, LED lighting rarely fail. However, LED products last over for a small number of years. These cause due to some factors which reduced the LED Lifecycle.

Temperature

Heat is produced when light is emitted, which has an effect on luminous flux and lifespan of the LED. As it is essential to divert the heat by a suitable heat sink or proper installation. Proper installation of the heat sink is important which can avoid problems like incorrect amount of surface area or not the proper amount of gap between fin to air flow. Heat rise begins due to design fault which can lead to reduced lifespan of LED products. The cooler LEDs are, the longer lifespan they have and the highly efficient and brighter they are.

Power consumption

Every led operates on a specific current range. Higher the current than the higher amount of the heat is released. Similarly, the lower the current given range than the lower amount of high is released which directly effect on operating life of LED.

Mechanical effect

During manufacturing, assembly or handling of LED products experience large temperature fluctuation which develops mechanic forces. If LEDs are exposed to these forces during the process, they may have a negative effect on the operating cycle or destroy them.

Environment

If LEDs utilized in an enclosed area,  the heat around them can easily surpass as per they are designed to withstand which shorten their lifespan. LEDs are unbreakable, non-sensitive and vibration proof. Due to this property, dampness or dampness region is not an issue for them. But some electronic components are sensitive and may corrode and fail the module to work. Therefore dampness protection is an important factor, in order to achieve a proper operating lifespan of LED module.
